Artists of PPYC

The year 2016 was a remarkable one for several of the members of the PPYC Art Group.  Kate Howe, Karin Eisermann and Diane Segger were all recipients of prestigious awards at exhibitions at the Visual Arts Center Punta Gorda.

Kate Howe had submitted her triptych of the Gilchrist Park Harbor Walk titled As Time Goes By to the biennial National Art Exhibition hosted by the Visual Arts Center January 29 to March 12, 2016. Just being accepted into this juried art show is an accomplishment, so you can imagine our pride when we learned that Kate had won the People’s Choice Award for her painting.

Karin Eisermann and Diane Segger each had three paintings accepted for the November 5 to December 9, 2016 Harvest of Art juried art exhibition. This exhibition is described by the Visual Arts Center as “Charlotte County’s oldest and most prestigious annual juried exhibit”.  At the award ceremony on November 10, Karin was awarded the 3rd place prize for her painting Carlson Park.

At the conclusion of the show Diane Segger learned that her painting Spirit had received the People’s Choice Award based on ballots submitted by the hundreds of art enthusiasts who viewed the show in the Federal Gallery at the Visual Arts Center during the fall Fine Arts Festival. Diane’s painting was inspired by watching three PPYC members racing Fred Horwitz’s Harbor 20 sailboat Spirit during a competition on Charlotte Harbor last spring.

Kate, Karin and Diane, along with many other talented members of the PPYC Art Group, regularly exhibit their recent work in the BSG&AC Clubhouse during the BSM Annual Residents’ Picnic and Festival in March each year.
