Land at the Crest of the Hill – Updates in the Second, Third and Fourth Editions

As of September 2024 there have now been four print runs of The Land at the Crest of the Hill: Clues to Niagara History from Upper Fonthill, with each subsequent Edition containing minor edits and updates to material in the book. Special thanks to all of the book distributors for their support, Shoppers Drug Mart in particular, and the local press for its positive coverage. Below is a summary of some of the more significant updates.

Second Edition – December 2023:
p119 – added a reference to the musical group Davis Hall & the Green Lanterns
p122 – added an aerial photo of the Silo House
p134-5 – added reference to the Chappell family, added Orchard Park to sub-header and added reference to development plans for the Stirtzinger House
p144 – added reference to Canboro Hills developement
p147 – added reference to Moore Family history in discussion of Eber Rice

Third Edition – March 2024:
p31 – updated part of the James & Amy Crawford material to better reflect their position with respect to the Hicksite separation. They remained part of the Orthodox Quaker group.
p63 & 91 – added John L. Brown’s middle initial and updated broken links to Sarah King Head’s article about him
p147 – added cross reference to material about the Haist-Saylor farm
in footnote 8
added QR codes for certain supplemental information

Fourth Edition – September 2024:
p98 – corrected footnote 29 PHS Calendar year reference to 1995
p119 – the Sam Derreck piano and commemorative plaque have been moved from the Meridian Community Centre to the Pelham Old Town Hall by the town recreation department in 2024. This location has been updated in the Fourth Edition
p199 – Pnyx spelling corrected
Index – updated to include references to Peachtree Park and Hillcrest Place
