Temperance, Taverns and Roads in Early Pelham Township

On September 21, 2024 Geoff Bowden and Graham Segger delivered a presentation to The Pelham Historical Society on the inter-related topics of the taverns, roads and the temperance movement in the nineteenth and early twentieth century Township of Pelham. The presentation showed how the taverns were established along trade routes through the township and how they went into decline after the advent of the railroads and the introduction of temperance legislation. The following link will take you to the slides used to illustrate that talk.
